Physical Chemistry
The Physical Chemistry group has an educational laboratory and five experimental and computational research laboratories. 42 MSc and 14 PhD students has been graduated from this educational group so far. Graduates and postgraduate students in this department are engaged in research with experimental and computational methods in various fields. The following are the investigations carried out by theoretical methods, quantum computing and molecular dynamics simulations:
- Absorption and interaction of drugs, amino acids, pollutants and hydrogen with nanostructures.
- Investigation of the chemical reactions and the factors affecting it
- Presenting new models for the study of adsorption process
- Designing nanostructure theory for optical and electrical applications applicable to Nano-sensors and solar cells
The empirical studies in the following areas are also conducted in research laboratories of Physical Chemistry department laboratory:
- Studying and synthesis of adsorbents for water and wastewater treatment
- Producing Nano-catalysts and investigating the factors affecting their activity
- Producing Photo-catalysts and investigating their performance on wastewater treatment and contaminated colored water
- Construction of the third and fourth generations of solar cells and enhancing their performances
- Producing polymer nanocomposites and improving their tensile, stress and abrasive properties
It is our outmost concern to develop a creative and knowledgeable thinker in this field of study to work in the country's research and chemical industries. Upon graduation, the students must have the ability to carry out projects related to the problems of wastewater treatment of chemical industries, the catalytic processes used in the chemical and petrochemical industries of the country. In addition, the readiness to collaborate in research institutes to conduct research on the boundaries of knowledge and interdisciplinary majors or continuing the study at higher levels are among the characteristics of the graduates.
